Sushi Lounge Poway was an idea conceived by two friends while working together for another restaurant, Sushi on the Rock, La Jolla, and Carlsbad. Katie Rooney was the Manager of Operations and started their Catering department. Frank Interlandi was a Sushi Chef in the La Jolla location for 7 years, assisted in the opening of Carlsbad, and was their Head Sushi Chef. The two friends purchased Sushi Poway in 2006, and after renovation opened as Sushi Lounge Poway, with a new menu, stylish décor, and a whole new feel. Sushi Lounge Encinitas came in 2012, with Sushi Lounge Point Loma opening in 2016.
