Our Story

Sushi Lounge Poway was an idea conceived by two friends while working together for another restaurant, Sushi on the Rock, La Jolla, and Carlsbad. Katie Rooney was the Manager of Operations and started their Catering department. Frank Interlandi was a Sushi Chef in the La Jolla location for 7 years, assisted in the opening of Carlsbad, and was their Head Sushi Chef. The two friends purchased Sushi Poway in 2006, and after renovation opened as Sushi Lounge Poway, with a new menu, stylish décor, and a whole new feel. Sushi Lounge Encinitas came in 2012, with Sushi Lounge Point Loma opening in 2016.

 Sushi Lounge offers a fresh alternative with emphasis on quality ingredients, a warm lounge-like atmosphere, and hospitable and informative service with a relaxed, friendly vibe.

Building off of the success in Poway, Frank and Katie were excited to bring their sushi style to the coast and opened Sushi Lounge Encinitas in 2012 in Frank's neighborhood. And in 2016, Katie and Frank opened their third location in Point Loma, where Katie lives. Sushi Lounge is committed to making a difference in our surrounding communities through volunteering and charitable contributions. We are proud supporters of Chelsea’s Light, Wounded Warrior Foundation, Resounding Joy, Movember, Breast Cancer Angels, our community schools, and other local charities. We hope to welcome you often!
